Life saving information
The Norwegian Air Ambulance Foundation had a need for accurate and continuous weather information for secluded areas, as pilots were often forced to turn back when the weather suddenly changed.
To solve this problem, a small weather station was developed, to be installed in remote areas around the mountains and rural areas of Norway.
These weather stations are equipped with LTE SmartStart routers from Advantech Czech s.r.o. The LTE technology used within these SmartStart routers, and their ability to operate at low temperatures, delivers a reliable and robust solution to the customer.
The Router is usually connected to 2 to 3 high-specification cameras, computers, various measurement tools, sensors, and electronics.
All of the captured data can be sent simultaneously, either over a mobile network via a robust mobile broadband router to a central control room, or directly to an Air Ambulance helicopter. This delivers accurate, real time weather information to pilots in all situations, allowing them to predict potential problems, make better-informed decisions, and safely provide their vital, life saving services.
